We booked our room at the Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta before we left home. We were able to get a very good price of $50 a night.
We were not disappointed at all. We had a king size bed, entertainment system , comfortable sitting area, and a mini bar.
There was a small balcony and we had a view out over the trees and the pool.

Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta Resort And Spa: nice but lacking in the breakfast buffet category

I look for four things when I stay at a hotel:

is there a (breakfast) buffet
how are the door locks
bathroom qualities
air conditioner…does it work

1)the buffet was lacking in variety and taste, but I did enjoy a couple of plates
2)card key and a latch
3)nice bathroom, good sized shower
4)a/c worked quite well

the pool looked very nice but the water was too cool for me
always nice going for an 8:30 am swim

Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta Resort And Spa: Affordable Bliss

My stay here was FABULOUS! It’s only 5-10 minutes away from Yogya airport and it has its own compound. Though it is by the airport road, the hotel itself is far away from it (you go through a long gate/road with some security.) It’s an interesting hotel because the lobby is on the top floor (7th floor). Rooms are located on the 1st to 6th floors. I felt that the prices here were more reasonable than other places. The pool is a must-see and so are the desserts and coffeeshop area.

This resort has 2 pools: an indoor and outdoor pool. The indoor pool is part of the spa and no cameras allowed. However, the indoor pool is an exact replica of the pool of one of the sites in Yogya (I think it was the kraton… not sure.) I’m not a big spa person, but if I had the time and energy, I would have gone there and checked it out. Definitely go to the pool!!! I really feel that this hotel is very family friendly and most of its facilities are kid-friendly. In fact, alot of the guests here were either couples or families. The receptionists and other staff members speak very good English.
Try to ask for the Mt. Merapi/pool view. It’s only an extra $5USD (50,000Rp) per night from the standard garden view room.
Definitely bring a swimsuit!
The yummy desserts cost 15000Rp ($1.50 USD) a piece.

Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta Resort And Spa: Best price to value

I booked this hotel at the website of Starwood hotels at 410,000 IDR/night including breakast.

Staffs are very friendly and responsive. Interiors are well decorated with Javanese atmosphere. Facilities are not bad. As for the restaurent, however, you will have only one choice. Service directory of this hotel says that there are two restaurents. But one of them was closed when I visited.

Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta Resort And Spa: Mystical Mustika

Great location five minutes away from the airport. Beautiful gardens, lovely pool, you can walk around and admire sculptures of mermaids, frogs, traditional folk, carvings and fountains etc… The spa is also fantastic and apparently frequented by top Indonesian and Malaysian artistes e.g. Kris Dayanti, Siti Nurhaliza (who apparently went for the full 6-hour she-bang treatments!). I also spotted other international stars in the Guest Book. The rooms are very homely and cosy. Plenty of choice in the breakfast buffet.

Great to wake up in full view of Mount Merapi, how’s that for a unique landscape, not often you get to sleep so near to an active volcano! The warning system they have in place on the island of Java is apparently one of the best in the world, so guests should pretty much rest easy about it… although on the last morning I was woken up by an almighty bang which made me wonder whether it WAS Mount Merapi giving a little spurt… at breakfast that morning there was a bigger puff of smoke at the mouth of the volcano instead of the usual stream that we see the rest of the time… hmmm…

“Outstanding Hotel”

You can’t go wrong staying at this Sheraton property. Damaged during an Earthquake a few years ago, the reopened hotel is consistent with all Sheraton properties. The rooms are large, the staff is outstanding, and for an American who is picky about what he eats, the food here was surprisingly excellent. And they have a cool wine bar where you can just relax whether you’re tasting wine or not. It’s air conditioned, too, which provides a pleasant respite from the heat …more [+]and humidity that is characteristic of SE Asian nations. My only issue dealt with cleanliness of the room. I’m certain it had something to do with the HVAC system, but there was a consistent film of dirt / dust on the floor. “Lovely Rooms!”

The resort is truly lovely – not sure why, but when we stayed there, there was hardly anyone there! Location so close to airport! We had booked into the Lagoon Access Room and loved it. With a 15 month old daughter, it was brilliant that we could quickly change into our swimming gear and go for a quick dip just outside our room. Rooms kept clean, although decor a bit dated, but spacious and clean enough for our little girl to run around and out into the balcony area. …more [+]Housekeeping staff were very accommodating and attentive with our requests and prompt with their service. Resort has inside swimming pool (not tried it, but looks very nice and big) and outside, but the pool is quite cold although w the sun beaming down it. Went to spa and it was very nice inside and service was good. Husband also went to play golf at Merapi and definitely recommends it but found that he got a cheaper price phoning the golf course directly than going through the hotel. Downside is that the hotel only had one restaurant open, which did not really give us a choice when it came to dinner & lunch that we had go out for dinner one night. Buffet breakfast was really good. I thought the food was nice, however my husband thought it was ok for a 5 star hotel. All staff were very friendly and helpful from housekeeping to front desk reception. Would like to say thanks to Henri, Dini and the housekeeping assistant who made our stay even more enjoyable whilst we were there. less [-]
